6-Valley Tour & Oquirrh Joker (200–600km)

The first part (150 miles) of the Utah Lake 300 is the same as the 6-Valley Tour 400, hence the riders can ride together.

(Not offered in 2023) 6-Valley Tour 600 — RWGPS Link — 600km Brevet

600 km (~373 miles) with 10,716 feet of climbing.
Time limit: 40 hours. Route #2380.

2023 Start Time Check-in at 04:30 with a prompt departure at 05:00. The check-in closes one minute before the start. There will be brief announcements right beforehand. If you did not preregister, please come 20–30 minutes early.  This event will be held rain or shine.

Introduction
The names of the six valleys you will ride through are (in order): Utah Valley, Goshen Valley, Cedar Valley, Rush Valley, Tooele Valley and Salt Lake Valley.

Start & Finish Location Macey’s grocery store parking lot in Lehi, Utah at 760 E Main St. It is just SW of exit 279, off I-15.

Cue Sheet & Cards A detailed cue sheet and brevet card will be provided at check in. Do NOT rely on the online cue sheet as it may not be accurate. If you wish to preview the cue sheet, a PDF version can be e-mailed to you upon request, or one will be sent out to everyone on the Google E-Mail Group, about a week before the event date.

Registration If possible, please register 48 hours in advance so I have time to prepare the personalized brevet cards and cue sheets.

Support This will be a self-supported brevet. The trail boss will be riding with the whole group as a participant. This means you will be getting your supply of fluids and extra food at convenience stores or cafes along the route. There is no SAG. In the event of any catastrophic problems, we recommend that you have a back up plan (a local friend that you might call for assistance). If you do have a friend or spouse that can help drive part of the route, please let me know — such help is always welcome. Such help needs to be neutral roving support — that is equal assistance for all riders.

Special Route Notes

  • The 400 & 600K routes take you on the interstate for about three miles (very north part of the routes).
  • There are no unusual grades or steep sections over 6%. The longest climb is the right fork of Hobble Creek Canyon with approx. 1550 feet. The grade is very gradual, never exceeding 6%.

If you have to abandon the brevet, please call or text me, so I don’t wait for you at the finish.

Sanctioning See our “What is a Brevet?” page for more information on sanctioning.

Sun Data (approx.) Civil twilight/sunrise: 06:32/07:01

Reminders This is a self-supported event, so bring cash for stops at various convenience stores. Also have a pen in your bag in case the route requires answering an “Information Checkpoint.”

Contact Ken Moss (Regional Brevet Administrator), mobile 801-833-2782, or rba@saltlakerandos.org

If You Are Late Please call me so I can arrange to leave you a cue sheet and brevet card. You can start up to an hour after the official start time, but subsequent checkpoint cut-off times will remain the same, as if you had started with everyone else. If you know in advance, or wake up Saturday morning and decide not to ride, please let me know so I won’t worry about you at the start. I will not be checking e-mail on Saturday, so please call or text me.
Since I will also be riding with the group, I cannot wait for late comers (I will leave your brevet card on my windshield if you notify me).
