Date & Time April 16th, 2011, with a mass start at 9:00 a.m. sharp (some BCC info indicates otherwise). Check-in will start an hour before with brief announcements right beforehand. If you did not preregister, please come 30 minutes early and pay with a check (or exact change in cash). This event will be held rain or shine.

Introduction Stretch your distance and join us for this 125-mile brevet!
This out and back route starts and ends in Centerville, Utah, which is about 10 miles north of Salt Lake City. This is an extension of a popular “Super Series” century ride, sponsored by Bonneville Cycling Club. This brevet will be held on the same day and start at the same location as the those doing the century ride. This is primarily a “city ride” as it travels through Layton, Kaysville, Hooper, Willard (to the Willard Bay State Park, which is the turnaround for the 100 milers), Brigham City, ending in Corinne. The return trip does not stop at Willard Bay.

Route Stats 200.0 km (124.3 miles) with 1335 feet of cumulative elevation gain. Time limit: 13 hrs 30 mins. (finish by 10:30 p.m. — bring lights if think you might take that long!)

Start & Finish Location Centerville Junior High School @ 625 S Main St, Centerville.

Directions From Salt Lake City take exit 317 off I-15 & proceed east on SR-106 for .8 mile where it swings left becoming Main Street. Go 1.2 miles to the school, which is on your right.

Registration If possible, please register in advance so I have time to prepare the brevet cards and cue sheets. The admin. fee is $5.00, except for late registrations ($8.00 for day of registration, checks or exact change only accepted, come 30 minutes early with this form filled out). Membership in BCC is not required (contrary to earlier reports). Online registration is available here at my cycling gear site and PayPal or VISA/MC is accepted — there are no additional online or Active.com fees. There are no refunds, but if you cancel with 72 hours notice, you can carry forward your fees to another event. If you choose to use snail mail, use this PDF form.

Support I will be at the start and finish to handle the brevet cards. During the ride I plan to drive the route, and at key checkpoints provide some additional fluids (ice water, Perpeteum, V-8 & Choc. milk) and snacks (humus w/ Peta bread, croissants w/ Nutella, bananas etc.). Technically I cannot provide sag support, but I will be on hand for any catastrophe’s. However, I will need to be at the finish line from approximately 2:00 p.m. on, to sign off on riders as they arrive. If you have to abandon the brevet, please call me, so I don’t wait for you at the finish.

Sun Data Civil twilight/sunrise: 6:18/6:46 a.m. Sunset/civil twilight: is 8:09/8:38 p.m.

Sanctioning This event is a RUSA-sanctioned brevet, #1011. This is not an ACP-sanctioned event and consequently is not a qualifier for the 1200k Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP), but IS a qualifying brevet for domestic 1200ks. See our “What is a Brevet?” page for more information on sanctioning.

Reminders This is a self-supported event, so bring cash for stops at various convenience stores. Also have a pen in your bag in case the route requires answering an “Information Checkpoint.”

If You Are Late Please call me so I can arrange to leave you a cue sheet and brevet card. You can start up to an hour after the official start time, but subsequent checkpoint cut-off times will remain the same, as if you had started with everyone else. If you know in advance, or wake up Saturday morning and decide not to ride, please let me know so I won’t worry about you at the start. I will not be checking e-mail on Saturday, so please call or text me.
